What Guides My Life?

The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.
Proverbs 11:3, NKJV

Over the past few months, I have been meditating on this proverb, and the more I meditate on it, the more I am asking the question, “What guides me in all aspects of my life?” It can often be easy to say, “Yes, I walk upright, and I believe I have integrity in my life.”

However, if we are to look closely at all parts of our life, perhaps there are some areas where we may find this a little challenging

David says, “Search me O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me” (Psalm 139:23-24).

It is when we give God the permission to search our hearts and to know the deepest places in our lives that we may find that there are some areas where we don’t seem so upright as we may have thought. To walk upright and to have integrity in our lives means we walk in accordance to that which God wants us to walk in, and that we are the same everywhere we go.

Only with Jesus is this possible, and as we submit ourselves to His Lordship and ways, then we can be guided by His word and truth, and we can lead a life of integrity, and be upright in our ways.

The question we can ask ourselves is, “What guides my life, and does it line up with God’s word and truth?”
