The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
2 Chronicles 16:9, NIV

Today, friends, is a day to celebrate, a day to remember and fill our hearts with such joy and thanksgiving! Today we remember that King Jesus was born and came to set us free and give us hope and relationship with our Father God.

What a gift He is! A gift that is literally able to change our lives – not just once, but every single day, as we draw close to Him. He is the gift that keeps on giving. But, as wonderful as the nativity story is, how amazing that the story didn’t end there! It was just the beginning. The story grew and led to the cross, and life from the grave. And yet still the story didn’t end. Here we are today, finding the story is not over.

God has not finished. His story is not yet over. There is more He is doing, and more He wants to do in our lives and in this world. You and I can be part of that story. We have a role to play, a purpose to fulfil.

When I was a little girl, I was an angel in the nativity story at school. I remember well my lines and the tinsel halo I had, balanced on my head. How honoured I felt, as I took seriously my two minutes on stage with my arms held wide, looking angelic!

Perhaps today is a day to remember that the Lord is inviting us to embrace the role He is giving us in His story today. No part is too small or too large.

Today, let’s take a moment away to still our hearts from all the noise, and to remember the real reason for Christmas. Let’s re-dedicate our lives afresh to Him and say we want our lives to be part of His story here on earth.

There is so much more God is going to do as His story unfolds this coming year, and until He returns. What a privilege it is to be co-heirs and labourers with Him! You are part of His story and, as brothers and sisters, we need each other to play our role and fulfil our purpose.

What is your role? It all starts with being willing and giving Him that place of dedication in your heart. For some, it is an obvious calling from the Lord, for some, it is about being obedient and faithful each day, and for others, it is a willingness to share the Lord’s heart and love in a broken world. One thing is for sure. God has gifted each of us with all we need to do our part in the role He has given us. We just need to trust Him to take our willingness and make it shine for Him, for His Glory.

As we re-dedicate our lives afresh today, I pray we will be stirred to take seriously that we are now part of His story and have a role to be faithful to, whether we feel deserving of it or not. His only requirement is our hearts be fully committed and dedicated to Him. He will strengthen us and equip us for all He asks. Why? Because it is His story, and it is His glory.
