Be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5:18-20, NLT

I love listening to music, both classical and Christian worship. Then I began to discover that there were lots of radio stations I could listen to on the internet. So I started doing some research on internet radios. I found one that I really liked, and so I asked Dean, my husband, if I could have it for my birthday. I waited eagerly to see what would happen, and the day duly arrived.

Dean handed me a bag with some parcels in, and one of them was a beautiful white internet radio. Dean had set it up for me with two of my favourite internet stations. I soon got the hang of using the radio and was thrilled with the good sound quality and the clear display on the screen. The radio was truly a precious gift, and easy to use. I’ve had it for over a fortnight now, and have added ten more stations to the preset menu, and most of them are Christian worship music. They are helping me as I listen, and the words fill my mind, and sometimes I sing along, too. The music seems to affect the very atmosphere of our home. Dean loves worship songs and sings and plays different instruments too.

In the above scripture, Paul tells his readers to both sing worship songs, psalms and hymns and also to make music to the Lord in their hearts. If we do this, we are filling our minds with good things, and it draws us closer to Jesus and encourages us in the process. You don’t need a radio to make music to the Lord, but if we have an attitude of thankfulness in our hearts for all the Lord’s goodness to us, then we will want to worship Him.

I know that in these difficult days it is not easy, and hearing the daily news bulletins can have a negative effect on us. But our God is still on the throne. He is aware of all that is happening to us and around us, and He will hold us secure as we keep our eyes on Jesus.

Prayer: My Father, I want to thank You for the gift of music. Help me to use it to draw me closer to You, and on those days that are dark and difficult, please would You give me the grace to keep going and fix my eyes on Jesus, Your Son, who gave all He had so that I could become Your child. Thank You, Father, for loving me. I love You. Amen.
