Who is more important?
by Paul Lawrence
There is always a much debated subject that is even joked about in every day life and it is the age old question of; “…who came first, the chicken, or the egg?” Recently a group of scientists, after much research, have concluded that the chicken must have come first as the egg needed a certain substance that can only be found in the chicken in order to be made. If it was up to the chicken and the egg to debate this, both would deem themselves more important than the other and claim they were first and the other would not exist if it was not for them.
The same line of questioning can also start about ourselves. Who came first; you, or the world? Who is more important; you, or the world? The Bible shows us in Ephesians 1:4, ‘For he chose us in Him before the creation of the world’. And Romans 8:29 says, ‘God knew them [the people He called] before he made the world’ (NCV).
Not only are we so important to our Father that He chose us before the creation of the world but He had a rescue plan in place to bring us out of captivity before the creation of the world. ‘He [Christ] was chosen before the creation of the world’ (1 Peter 1:20).
No matter what is going on in our lives at the moment we are the most important thing to the Father. He knows everything that is going on in our lives and above all other things we are His priority because He knows us intimately. He knew the plans He had for us before the world was even created and He chose both you and me.
The question for today and in the very situation we find ourselves in right now is: who is more important to Him; you and me, or the world which will pass away?
Prayer: Father, I thank You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made and that You delight in me and want to be part of everything that I am doing. Thank You for choosing me before the world was made. I want to join with You hand in hand and walk into the plans You have had for me since the beginning of time, today. Amen.
