Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

I was there for a faceoff with God...to say to Him that I have tried but You were silent. Now I will die and it will be Your fault God. You ignored my cries....but God showed up and saved my life..... Read More...

Who Cares?

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7, NLT

Leaning on a stool at the corner of the entrance to our local Mall, with a rainbow coloured umbrella protecting her face from the Florida sun, stood a little woman holding a cardboard sign in her hands. As cars zoomed on past or waited impatiently at the traffic lights, there this lady stood smiling and potentially impacting the passengers of each car that passed her way with two simple words on her sign – ‘Jesus Cares’.

Two simple yet powerful words of truth – ‘Jesus Cares’.

As I sat at the traffic lights and spied this lady and her sign, the words on her card touched me. They reminded me that the concerns in my own heart at that moment weren’t mine alone to carry; that my amazing Saviour not only cared about what I was processing in my own head, but that He wanted to be involved.

As we drove on past this brave little woman and her sign I thought of how many people there must be who need to hear the words on the sign and fully embrace their meaning. People who rush through life struggling, busy with family and friends and even church - good Christian people and non Christians alike - all wondering the same thing in the recesses of their hearts - who really cares about me and my stuff?

God does! Not in a token gesture kind of way, or just as two sweet, warm and fuzzy words that we learn at Sunday School. Jesus cares in a way that, when fully received, can quite literally change your life! He knows all that goes on in our lives and He listens to the cares and struggles of our heart, with a longing that we would bring them to Him. With compassion and deep understanding He meets with us - never with frustration, disgust or out of duty.

Jesus cares about all the situations that we’re facing (and wondering at their outcome). He cares about the losses and the pressures that we juggle. Jesus cares about all that we hold in our hearts - all that we push down and hope will go away and yet doesn’t, and all that threatens to consume and overwhelm us. He cares about the loneliness and the fear in our hearts. He doesn’t listen to our concerns and see them as too big to overcome, or too little to be bothered with. He listens with a love that is greater than any other we will ever experience. Jesus cares!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for caring about me. Thank You that You care about me and all the concerns of my heart; that You’re interested in me, and that You want to bring Your truth and Your answers to my cares. Lord, open my heart today to receive the love You have for me, and to experience the comfort of Your care in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
