There is No One Like You
by Pam Smith
One of the recent devotionals mentioned an article in the Daily Mail (a British newspaper) which read “Scientists yesterday claimed to have cracked the riddle of whether the chicken or the egg came first. The answer, they say, is the chicken. Researchers found that the formation of egg shells relies on a protein found only in chickens’ ovaries”. Apparently they used a super computer called HECToR to discover this.
Well, if the egg had come first, I wonder who or what, would have laid it, hatched it and nurtured it. One marvels that anyone would ask such a question, especially a scientist. The answer was on the first page of the Holy Scriptures all the time, and yet they needed a super computer to prove it to them!
"And God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind." Genesis 1.21.
Of course many of these discoveries, where we learn from the exquisite design found in nature, are used by man for materials, science and technology. Does this not just show again the awesome wonder of our Creator.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; The skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech; Night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the end of the world."
Psalm 19:1-4
The whole of creation shouts out, declaring God’s Glory and handiwork. As we look at creation His invisible attributes are clearly seen; His intimate care, balance and beauty are displayed. "But though God has planted eternity in the hearts of men, even so, man cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end."
Ecclesiastes 3.11. LB
So we have the truth displayed without and revealed within. There is no excuse for not giving him the Glory due his Name.
Sometimes we sing this chorus in church:
There’s no one like you, No one at all, Let all heaven and earth adore.
Angels above surround your throne, Singing Halle - Hallelujah!
Saints below worship you alone, Singing Halle - Hallelujah!
We’re singing Halle - Hallelujah! ( Phyl Pringle)
Prayer: Dear Lord, we come in humble praise before you. There is no one like you, we fall before you and worship you. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
