The True Root of Spiritual Disorder

« Previous DayThere are countless so-called holistic treatments that purport to bring spiritual as well as physical restoration to the body. We are told that such treatments will improve the spiritual condition and pathways within our bodies by balancing, unblocking, allowing energy transfer, bringing enhancement or release, using these and many other words and phrases to point to the apparent root cause of our problem.
The Bible points to a very different cause for spiritual disorder but this never gets a mention in any of the descriptions for these alternative therapies: the problem of sin. However, as we see in today’s well-known verses, God has provided a precious solution which requires no balancing or unblocking, but simply confession.
The world does seem to recognise that our physical bodies reflect, in some measure, the spiritual condition of our hearts, but it is determined to avoid the only true solution to our spiritual needs. Thankfully, Jesus makes it very clear that His Kingdom, which is centred on divine forgiveness, is the answer to this human disorder.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs (Matthew 5:3).
