I was there for a faceoff with God...to say to Him that I have tried but You were silent. Now I will die and it will be Your fault God. You ignored my cries....but God showed up and saved my life..... Read More...

The River of Life

by Pam Smith

30 December 2008

« Previous Day

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
Revelation 22:1, NIV

I sat up in bed and drank a glass of water. Then I sensed the Lord saying to me, ‘Come and drink the Living Water, Child. Drink deeply’. I realised how thirsty I had become, in my spirit, and climbed out of bed and fell to my knees.

The Lord is very compassionate. He won’t break the bruised reed, nor quench the dimly burning flame. How could I have been so long without the Living Water to drink? I remembered as a child we would sing:-

‘I am feeding on the Living Bread, I am drinking at the fountain head,
And who so drinketh Jesus said, shall never, never thirst again.
What never thirst again? No, never thirst again.
What never thirst again? No never thirst again.
And who so drinketh Jesus said, shall never, never thirst again.’

Scripture says that ‘His compassion is intertwined with everything he does’. The Lord wants to give us the best, but we often miss the best, because we are busy getting the second best for ourselves. This is where the drinking of the Living Water comes in. The quiet union of our spirit with His Spirit, the precious cleansing of the heart brings pure joy in the day ahead.

‘The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come, and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.’ Revelation 22:17.

Drink deeply, Beloved.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for the wonderful Living Water that refreshes every part. Thank you that it is freely given to all who come. In Jesus' name, Amen.
