Rest

by

Remember the command that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you after he said “the Lord your God will give you rest by giving you this Land”.
Joshua 1:13, NIV

I have been unpacking today’s scripture verse a little bit in my own life and possessing my own promised land of rest and peace that Lord longs to give to us.

We live in such a busy world. Do, do, do. Busy, busy, busy. We try to meet the demands that people and circumstances try to put on us.

The Lord recently stopped me on my tracks and said, “God will give you rest”. So, I have chosen to lay something down in my own life, and take the time to ‘seek peace’.

David encourages us to do this. “Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it”  (Psalms 34:14).

Today I chose to rest and sit in our beautiful garden, admiring the flowers. I looked at their beauty, colour, shape, height, and uniqueness. I saw a beautiful butterfly flying around. I was reminded of how God delights in our uniqueness and longs for us to come and sit with Him, to rest, and to seek peace, just as Mary came and sat at the feet of Jesus. True peace and rest can only be found in Jesus.

Never lose the wonder of who God is. Focus on Him today. Seek peace in this busy world, and enter into the rest He provides for us. It’s a wonderful place to be.
