I was there for a faceoff with God...to say to Him that I have tried but You were silent. Now I will die and it will be Your fault God. You ignored my cries....but God showed up and saved my life..... Read More...

Let There Be Light

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Genesis 1:3, AMP

In the beginning the earth was formless, empty and dark; but the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters (Genesis 1:2). The rest of Genesis 1 is about all God then chose to create – all the beauty on earth, the sun, moon and stars, the animals, birds, plants, and on the sixth day He created man in His own image (Genesis 1:27).

The whole of creation began when God chose to speak it into being: ‘Let there be light; and there was light’. In the Amplified version, we read in Genesis 1:4 – ‘God saw that the light was good (pleasing and useful) and He affirmed and sustained it’. God was satisfied and happy with all that He created; He never doubted what He spoke into being.

This same God chose to create you and me. You’re His idea. Psalm 139:13 confirms this: ‘You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb’. You weren’t just a quick decision or a mistake. He wanted you here on this earth for His pleasure, but also for a plan and a purpose.

The enemy’s plan is to fill your head with lies about our identity in the Lord, and one of the ways he does this, is by rejection and hurt. He knows that when you forget who you are in the Lord, you become insecure and confused. Your focus is then off the Lord and you try to find your place of meaning and belonging in people.

There are many ways rejection and self-doubt can get a place in your life, but it often happens very subtly. An example of this is when a person who meant a lot to you, just moves you aside in their lives. The relationship is just never the same, and you spend endless moments wondering what you did wrong. You end up doubting yourself and comparing yourself to others, but you’ll always find yourself lacking if you choose to go down this road. Ask the Lord to help you forgive and not be offended. The reason could be something totally different and not even about you. This can happen in a friendship, a work situation, or any relationship.

If this is what you’re going through, remember who you are and who you belong to. The same God who spoke and created the heavens and the earth, also spoke and created you. You’re pleasing to Him; He affirms and sustains you. He longs for you to know your identity in Him, because then you’ll know your strength and authority as His child. You’ll find your meaning and belonging in Him firstly. You matter to Him and He values you. Allow Him into your hurt and into your life. He’ll bring healing, restoration and joy.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for who I am in You. Thank You that I’m perfectly acceptable to You just the way I am. Even when I experience hurt and rejection, I can turn to You for truth and healing. Please expose the lies of the enemy and help me grow in my identity as Your precious child. In You, I live and breathe and have my being. Amen.
