Let His Light Shine
by Jim Person
My wife and I travel a lot for our ministry, and we stay in a variety of places. Many times, in these places, the hallways are not well lit. I remember arriving at one place we were staying, and we received our key and headed to the room. We had travelled for hours and we knew on the other side of the door was a place of rest and comfort. As we walked up the stairs on our way to the room, it was rather dark in the corridor and no light switch was apparent. When we arrived at the door to our room, I tried to open it in the dark, but I couldn’t see well enough to insert the key into the lock. I could feel the key hole, but when I tried to bring the key to fit it in the lock, I was unable to do so. I fumbled at the locked door for a while, but the more I tried, the more I realised I needed more light to show my way. Then my wife found the switch in an obscure place, and I could see well enough to insert the key. I had received the key to enter into the promised place, but, lacked the light to see how to practically apply it.
So often we, as Christians, have been given the key to enter into the Father’s rest for our lives, but we need extra light to shine in the dark places. Sometimes we want to keep those areas dark, because we don’t want to face what is there, but it is only as we go through the dark areas, receive His light, and apply the key, that we can enter into His rest and freedom.
Will you ask the Father to shine His light into these dark areas, so you can enter His rest?
Prayer: Lord, I need You to light my way. I am so grateful You have given me the keys to find rest in my life. But Lord, I need help in seeing how to apply them. I want to enter in to what You have for me. Shine Your light so I may see. Amen.
