Keys to discovering and fulfilling your purpose and destiny (3)
by Jill Southern
What excuses do we make? God doesn’t consult our past when determining our future. God always seems to call us to do a job which is too big for us. Why is that? It’s so you’ll never forget where your strength comes from. Destinies are not listed in the ‘situations vacant’ column in the daily paper. You don’t volunteer, you respond! God seems to persistently nudge you forward. But when you know you’re in the centre of God’s purpose and will for your life, you experience a lasting pleasure that simply can’t be found anywhere else. God is no man’s debtor.
God doesn’t make nobodies. Everybody is a somebody - important to him. So dare to walk in your destiny. But it will cost you. After the apostles had been flogged they left the High Council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the Name of Jesus (Acts 17).
Is there something getting in the way of you walking in your destiny? If so you need to identify it and eliminate it. Or is it simply an unwillingness to pay the price? The early disciples simply left their nets to follow Jesus. Has your life got so complicated it would be difficult to leave your nets? Is the world dragging you in a different direction from your God-given destiny? These are important questions which only you can answer for yourself.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that my life is caught up in a spiritual war between your destiny for my life and the enemy’s schemes. I choose not to compromise with the world, the flesh and the evil one. Help me to do whatever I have to do to put You first. I love You and I want to serve You and have You at the centre of my life. Amen.
