Seeds of the Kingdom

Kept Alive

by Tanya Person

The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today.
Deuteronomy 6:24, NIV

Throughout my life I have flown quite often. It’s not a frightening thing for me. I have no fear because of my past positive experiences. Once recently, my husband and I got on an aeroplane together and I suddenly started thinking I needed to remind myself how to open the emergency doors. I’ve sat through safety announcements so often that I can say them in my head with the flight attendant, but for some reason, on this flight, I felt a need to read the safety card. After an uneventful flight we were just about to land. We were expecting the wheels to touch the ground any second when suddenly we were hit from the side by a strong gust of wind. The pilot responded quickly and pulled up to circle the airport again before coming back for a smooth landing.

I found out later that my husband had had a mental picture of a plane wreck as we got on that plane. We both had been praying, giving our fears to God, and also asking Him to keep us safe and give the pilot wisdom. Our fear of the Lord brought us to Him when the enemy tried to put fear in our lives, and the Lord kept us alive on that day.

It’s a wonderful thing to trust the Lord with every part of our lives. When we fear the Lord and obey Him we needn’t fear anything else! The safest place to be is in the centre of His will for us. Remember to commit your ways to the Lord that you may have His blessing in your life.

Prayer: Lord, thank You that I don’t need to fear whatever may come in my life, but rather I can fear You and be safe, walking wherever You want me to be. Thank You that at the right time You will take me home to walk with You forever. Amen.”
