I Will Meet With You There

I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold Cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant. From there I will give you my commands for the people of Israel.
Exodus 25:22, NLT

The picture of the tabernacle was a pattern of things to come. In Hebrews we read how it is a copy of the real temple in heaven, where Christ has entered with the sacrifice of Himself, to be our advocate (Hebrews 9:24-26 and 10:19-20).

We haven’t got a High Priest who can’t be touched with the feelings of our infirmities. He was deeply touched by what we think and feel and He understands us completely (Hebrews 4:15-16).

Sometimes we don’t want to meet with Him there, because we feel we’re too poor, too dirty or too much of a failure. Perhaps we don’t have eloquent words to pray, or don’t even know how to pray, but a groan or a sigh is enough, for Jesus understands what’s in our spirits. We don’t have to put it into words, for He knows already.

Occasionally the telephone will ring and go to the answer phone, but there may just be a silence. A friend of mine had a recorded message on his which said, “you may leave a message after the tone, but please do something”.

But with God, whether we speak or not, just being there is vital. His promise is ‘I will meet with you there’. When we come under the covering of Jesus, we can expect to meet with Him.

I wonder why problems and trials come. Is it because when I have a need it drives me into that meeting place? If everything was perfect I would be tempted to go my own sweet way, with less desire to meet with Him there. But His presence will remain with those who do what He says, even in the everyday, practical things.

"The best and sweetest flowers of paradise God gives to His people when they are upon their knees. Prayer is the gateway of heaven."
Thomas Brooks.

Prayer: I stand before You in awe and silent praise. Lord, keep me coming to that place where Your holy presence can flow in me and over me with your Living Water. Amen.
