How It All Began
by Denise Cross
I was reading a science article recently about quarks. Even if you hated science at school please don’t stop reading now. The fact is that science is, as it always will, gradually discovering that what the Bible says is absolutely true. That really excites me, and maybe it will excite you too.
So, let me briefly explain. In 1994 scientists discovered quarks and these were believed to be the smallest building blocks of all matter. Protons and neutrons, which make atoms, are constructed from quarks. Everything is made from atoms, including each of us and everything on the earth. So in reality everything is made from quarks. Quarks were a very important discovery.
But now science has moved on. It seems that quarks are probably not the smallest building block because they seem to be made from something else. The ‘something else’ are Superstrings!
So what is a Superstring? Let me quote from the article.
“A yet-unproven theory suggests that a Superstring might be vibrations of a multi-dimensional space.” Vibrations make me think of sound waves and then speech. Multi-dimensional space makes me think of eternity and absolutely everything that God understands, but the human mind can’t grasp. In turn, these thoughts made me think of several verses in Genesis, one of which is our scripture today.
The scientists say everything is made from Superstrings which are vibrations in multi-dimensional space. The Bible says everything was made when God spoke in eternity.
It seems that science is moving towards ‘discovering’ that what Genesis says about Creation is indeed the truth.
How exciting that the truth of God’s word is being made clear even to those who may desire to dismiss His existence. I pray that revelation will come even to those who may have followed science as the source of all wisdom and seen belief as naïve and foolish. God’s ways are often beyond our understanding, as is much of science, but God is all wisdom and truth.
Prayer: Lord, we can’t begin to comprehend how You made all things. But we believe by faith that “the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible” (Hebrews 11:3). Help us to be people of faith, holding on to Your truth in the midst of an often cynical world. We ask this in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
