Seeds of the Kingdom

Heaven’s Manifesto

by Malcolm Wood

His ever expanding, peaceful government will never end. He will rule forever with fairness and justice from the throne of His ancestor David. The passionate commitment of the Lord Almighty will guarantee this!

The UK recently had a change of government and now the nation is wondering how this will affect the many aspects of life they are familiar with such as education, health, transport, business, defence, law and order, social welfare.

Before the election each political party issued their manifesto in which they stated how they intended to improve these areas of national life. It now remains to be seen how much of what was previously promised can actually be achieved by the coalition of the two parties in power.

But as citizens of heaven our true government doesn’t change. It’s sure and steadfast, and delivers on all its promises. Its administration has no complicated hierarchy and we have direct access to God through Jesus, our great high priest (Hebrews 10:19-22).
The economy of Heaven is such that our God will meet all our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

Our education is provided by the Holy Spirit who will teach us all things and remind us of everything Jesus has said (John 14: 26).

Our health is assured if we fulfil the conditions for God says He is the LORD who heals us (Exodus 15:26).

Our welfare is catered for as we care for one another (1Corinthians 12:25).

Our defence is possible through putting on the full armour of God (Ephesians 6:13).
Our security is in the hands of the angels as long as we remain under the cover of the Most High (Psalm 91).

However uncertain and challenging the future may be for the governments on earth, we, as Christians, not only have the prospect of a better government to come, but can be enjoying its benefits right here and now. Also, as we wait, we can be sharing with others the reality and reliability that the manifesto of heaven has to offer!

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for making it possible for me to become a citizen of Your everlasting Kingdom. Thank You also that Your promises are true and that You will never let me down. Help me to be a loyal and effective ambassador for Your kingdom, while I wait for Your return, Amen.
