Hearing from God

“Then the Lord said to him, ‘What is that in your hand?’ ‘A staff,’ he replied.”

The staff was a symbol of who he was. He was a shepherd. Moses’ staff was about his identity, his income and his influence. God said he was to throw it down. So, he threw it down and it became alive. He took it up again and it died.

Is God saying to us, “Throw down what is in your hand.  Release it to Me”?

From this point on it was never referred to as Moses’ staff, but the rod of God. Hearing the voice of God begins with fully submitting to God. The most important factor in our future is hearing from God.  We need to say, “Speak Lord, Your servant is listening”. Nothing is more important than being able to hear God’s voice.

Jesus said, ‘My sheep hear my voice’ (John Chapter 10).

“Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God” (John 8:47).

Are we tuned in?

How do we hear the voice of God?  “I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint” (Habakkuk 2:1).

We need to withdraw to get alone with God in a quiet place without distractions. We need to be still to calm down and be willing to wait. This creates the channel to hear the voice of God.

Habakkuk said, “I will look and see what the Lord will say “. We need to be reading the word of God. Write down any insights you receive and test everything. “Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it” (Habakkuk 2:2).

Are we just too busy to hear from God? Are we too noisy to hear from God? We so need to hear from Him. ‘When you call I will answer you’ (Jeremiah 33.3).
