I was there for a faceoff with God...to say to Him that I have tried but You were silent. Now I will die and it will be Your fault God. You ignored my cries....but God showed up and saved my life..... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

Godly Order

by Ron Scurfield

I was there when he set the heavens in place … I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
Proverbs 8:27,NIV

Hold on to your hats and fasten your seat belts, we’re travelling on a gigantic roller coaster through space. Our vehicle is the planet earth, which is constantly rotating at a speed of one thousand miles an hour, as it has been without variation since the beginning of creation. Yet there’s no vibration, no wobble and no awareness of any movement apart from the apparent journey of the sun across the heavens and the moon performing its nightly vigil in the dark sky. For the most part, we’re oblivious to the speed at which we’re spinning. This continues night and day in a seamless operation that we all take for granted.

Bearing this in mind, let’s consider a further scenario: Not only is our vehicle rotating considerably faster than the speed of sound, we’re also travelling through space on a continual orbit around the sun at a staggering speed of sixty-two thousand miles an hour. That’s one and a half million miles a day. With no route plan and no driver, we complete five hundred and eighty million miles every year in a never ending cycle.

There obviously has to be some kind of control over this, otherwise our planet would spin off into oblivion for ever, and all the stars would collide with each other creating a gigantic bottleneck, or explosion.

However, God delegated control of it all to His Son, ‘whom He appointed the heir of all things, through whom also He created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power’ (Hebrews 1:2-3). Everything is maintained exactly as it should be, in godly order, by His authority.

Now let’s look at the earth and mankind, also created flawless, but this time hijacked by the devil. He lured man into the trap of taking the forbidden fruit, thus snatching dominion of the earth for himself (Genesis 3; and John 14:30). The result is worldwide chaos, greed, hatred and all the wicked attributes of his evil nature that contaminate our daily living.

We may live in anxiety and uncertainty, but the same Jesus who holds the universe in perfect conformity came into this world of darkness and threw us a lifeline. He offers peace instead of chaos, love instead of hatred and life instead of death. ‘And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved’ (Acts 2:21).

The turmoil around us still rages. Man’s inhumanity is still rife. Outwardly there’s discord, but peace can come from within. The One who co-ordinates the planets in perfect harmony wants to do the same with our lives.

Let’s take a firm hold of that lifeline, and allow Him to draw us to Himself. As we come closer we begin to experience the warmth of His love and the peace of His presence. Responding to this enables us to establish a secure relationship with the Father on a never-ending journey with the Son, and godly order is restored.

Prayer: Lord, You created order out of nothing. Your creation is perfect. But I see so much that doesn’t conform to Your plan, especially in me. Please help me to come back into line with Your design for my life as I take hold of all that Jesus offers. Draw me closer to You, Lord. Amen.
