Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

I was there for a faceoff with God...to say to Him that I have tried but You were silent. Now I will die and it will be Your fault God. You ignored my cries....but God showed up and saved my life..... Read More...

Forsaken Not!

…for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]
Hebrews 13:5b, Amplified

One of my favourite verses in the New Testament is Hebrews 13:5b. It’s especially powerful when read in the Amplified version of the Bible because it brings out the original meaning with more impact. These words aren’t a flippant statement from a distant and uncaring God, who sits aloof from His creation. They are in fact the words of a loving Father God, who has a heart of compassion for His children and wants them to be assured of His abiding presence. ‘You’re not alone,’ I hear Him cry. ‘I’m never going to release My hold on you. I’m not like those who’ve forsaken you in the past.’ I don’t know about you, but those words comfort my bruised heart and speak into my deepest need.

God understands that for some of us, who’ve suffered the pain that comes with abandonment and betrayal, we now find it very difficult to trust. Perhaps you’ve vowed you’ll never let anyone that close to you again. You still feel the sting of that betrayal and have decided not to risk further vulnerability. People are human and prone to let us down, but God is not like that! He’s faithful to the end and can be trusted to never leave or forsake us. He also promises to heal our wounds of abandonment and betrayal, if we let him. Learning to trust people again can be difficult, but with God, it’s not impossible. We were created to have meaningful relationships with both God and with others, and when we shrink back from either, we suffer loss. God wants us to experience the joy that comes from godly relationships. God will lead you to those people who are safe to build relationship with, if you ask Him to.

Ponder these words as you go into today and chat to your Heavenly Father about any fears you may have. He’s waiting to hear from you!

Prayer: Father God, thank You, thank You, thank You that You will never, ever, ever leave me or forsake me. I can take hold of that promise with two hands because You’re a promise keeping God. I’m not alone! I’m not forsaken! You won’t relax Your hold on me. Assuredly not! Thank You that You’re also able to heal my heart from the pain of abandonment and betrayal and teach me how to trust again. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
