Faithful One

Every morning tell him, thank you for your kindness, and every evening rejoice in all his faithfulness.
Psalm 92:2, LB

It's good to remember our God is timeless and knows the end from the beginning of all things, not only in the coming year but in our lives and in our world.

He knows the sad times and the glorious times and He knows about the things we don’t understand like the expanding universe, black holes, dark matter and unknown forces of gravity. He’s in control of global warming and the next ice age, and yet He’s Emmanuel, God with us, and walks through the flood, fire or famine right where we are. He’s there to hold us securely in the unknown, or to receive the soul of the tiny child that slips into eternity.

He has put into motion the laws of science and nature, the laws of sowing and reaping, the laws of the Spirit of life and death, the laws of blessing and cursing and yet, His heart breaks over the fallen-ness of humankind. Through the Scriptures He has revealed to us, Salvation in Christ, and all we need to know about the Faithful One who suffered for us to bring us into ‘life eternal’.

He has promised ‘a future and a hope’, to those who are His and every day we can go forward rejoicing in His great faithfulness in our lives knowing that we’re safe in His hands, whatever happens. ‘For he is settled in his mind that Jehovah will take care of him. That is why he is not afraid’ (Psalm 112:7).

Faithful One, so unchanging, Ageless One, you’re my rock of peace,
Lord of all, I depend on you. I cry out to you, again and again.
You are my Rock in times of trouble; you lift me up when I fall down,
All through the storm, your love is my anchor –
My hope is in you alone.
Brian Doerksen

Prayer: Dear Lord, as I step into the future I put my hands firmly in Yours and rejoice in Your great faithfulness. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
