Don’t Lose Your Faith

Our faith in the Lord should be clearly seen. Jesus said, ‘No-one lights a lamp and covers it up, or puts it under a bed, Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house’ (Luke 8:16). Our faith is shown by good deeds, and when we lose our faith, it means our good deeds are not being seen. They’re not lighting up the world where we are, and everything continues being in darkness.

Our faith and actions should work together, not separately, for faith without action is dead. It’s our actions that make our faith complete. If actions speak louder than words, then let our actions be our words and conversation. Then we’ll be people who are ‘slow to speak’. Our words will be few, for the bible says, ‘When words are many, sin is unavoidable’ Proverbs 10:19).

It’s through our actions that our faith will reach and impact many, and this becomes ‘pure and undefiled religion before our God and Father’. In the words of Jesus we have the gospel of faith in action, ‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me’ (Matthew 25:35-36).

Good deeds are an expression of faith and that’s why the bible says we are to be doers of the word, not just listeners. And our deeds should come out of humility and a right heart attitude.

Faith feeds on good deeds. Without good deeds, it’s dead. So, let’s not starve it. ‘Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them’ (Proverbs 3:27).

Let’s continue exercising our faith towards one another, including those who’re outside our circles, to family, friends, and strangers, doing good wherever we are, within the ability that the Lord has given us. Whether it’s buying a cup of tea for the homeless, supporting a charity or whatever it is the Lord lays on your heart, let’s not just sit on our faith. Then the world will be full of good deeds for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember, whatever good deeds we do by faith, we’re doing them unto Jesus. So, let’s touch Jesus in everything we do.

Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for my faith in You. You first loved me, so I’m able to love in return. Therefore, as one of Your chosen people, holy and dearly loved, help me to always clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience in everything I do, for the glory of Your name. Amen.
