All Things Are Possible

by Diane Watson

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Do you really believe that all things are possible with God? Do you believe some things may be possible, but not all things?

How much do we trust God at His Word? These are the things I’ve been contemplating lately. When there seems ‘impossible’ circumstances in life, do we really trust and believe that God can bring us through and turn things around?

Let’s look at some of the seemingly impossible things that happened in the Bible.

Firstly, the miracle of creation - the universe, earth, plants, animals and humans were created.

The flood and the building of the ark - two of every kind of animal and eight human beings were saved.

God gave life into Sarah’s womb in her old age, and she bore Isaac.
God sent ten plagues on Egypt.

A bush burned but didn’t get consumed.

God sent a fire by night and a cloud by day to lead the Israelites.

Aaron’s rod was changed into a serpent.

God parted the Red Sea.

God sent manna to the Israelites in the desert and rained down quails.

Water came out of a rock.

The Jordan River divided, and people passed through it on dry ground.

The walls of Jericho came tumbling down when the Israelites marched around the city seven times, then blew trumpets and smashed jars.

God made the sun stand still for Joshua to enable the Israelites to win a crucial battle.

Balaam’s donkey speaks.

Samson had supernatural strength, from God’s Holy Spirit, to tear down the pillars of the Temple of Dagon.

A widow’s son was raised from the dead.

Fire came down from heaven and burnt up the wet altar of the Baal worshippers, because Elijah trusted God at his Word.

God made time go backwards. Hezekiah asked for a sign that his shadow would take ten steps backwards, and in order for that to happen the sun had to move in the opposite direction.

God closed the mouth of the lions when Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den. He wasn’t harmed.

The three men who were thrown into the roaring fire weren’t burned, not even a hair on their heads was scorched.

Jonah survived three days in the belly of a whale, then was safely landed on dry land.
God opened the prison door for Peter.

The virgin Mary conceived Jesus by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus raised Lazarus, the widow’s son and Jairus’ daughter from the dead.

Jesus turned water into wine.

Jesus walks on the water, and so does Simon Peter.

Jesus feeds the multitudes – firstly five thousand men and families with five loaves and two fish, then for thousand men with seven loaves and a few small fish.

Jesus healed many, leprosy was healed, severed ears were placed back on the head and restored, blind eyes were open, the lame could walk, the deaf could hear, demons were cast out.

Jesus died and was resurrected and ascended into heaven in front of witnesses.
Shall I go on?

Is there anything that our God cannot do? If you answered no, then why don’t you believe in the impossible.

Do we believe that He can turn people’s lives around or bring them back to Him - our unsaved children, grandchildren, spouses, family members, and friends? Do you remember the story of the prodigal son? It was God who brought the son to his senses.

Do we believe He can cure diseases and raise the dead? His nature doesn’t change and there are accounts of these miracles in the Bible. So, let’s take Him at His word. If we have unbelief, then perhaps we need to pray the prayer below.

Prayer: Father God, help my unbelief. The truth is all things are possible for You, for those who believe in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
