Absolute Trust

Recently my younger daughter flew to Alaska to join her husband who has been working out there for three months. She is going for four months and had to take her eight month old collie puppy with her. It was going to be a seventeen hour flight for them both.
Tulla, named after a Scottish loch, had no idea what she was in for, and I think my daughter was much more anxious than she was likely to be, although she is a slightly nervous dog. However, she settled happily into her sky crate, though I do wonder what was going through her doggie mind during the flight, and emerged unscathed at the other end, overjoyed to see both her `parents` again.
Over the months she has learned to trust my daughter, who was working as a locum doctor away from home four days a week. So it meant that Tulla had two homes which she had to get used to, but as long as my daughter was with her she was content, even if she didn’t know where she was going to spend the night.
Trust is a big issue with many wounded people. They have been let down by parents, spouses, friends, and find it hard to trust anything or anyone, mostly relying on themselves on a day to day basis.
Our heavenly Father wants us to learn to put our trust totally in Him, knowing that He will never let us down, no matter what our circumstances. There are times when He may ask us to do difficult things, or may seem distant, but He is always there, watching over us.
Paul must have wondered what was going to happen to him when the mob wanted to lynch him in Jerusalem, but even though forty men took an oath that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed him, God had different ideas and arranged it that someone overheard their plot and revealed it to the Governor. God’s plan was that Paul would preach in Rome, and preach in Rome he would, no matter what plans the plotters had (Acts 23).
We need to remember that God always sees the big plan and that He knows all the details and circumstances of our lives, and like Tulla, we need to put our trust totally in Him.
Prayer: Dear Father, I find it so hard to trust. Please help me to know that You are always with me, no matter how it seems. Please help me to reach out, particularly in the dark times, knowing that You hand is there, waiting to sustain and guide me in all circumstances. In Jesus’ name I ask it, Amen.
