What is Anointing? Part 2

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.
1 John 2:20, NAS

When we give our lives to Jesus, the Holy Spirit marks us out as God’s children, declaring in the spiritual realm that we’re men and women walking in a delegated divine authority for specific purposes, within the Body of Christ.

This divine anointing and delegated authority begins as soon as we’re born again of the Holy Spirit, through acknowledging Jesus as Lord of our lives. But it becomes an empowered authority through baptism in the Holy Spirit, as He is given the freedom to operate throughout our lives, rather than just over our lives. The gifts of the Holy Spirit can then flow through each of us for the common good of the whole Body of Christ.

Today’s verse reminds us that if we’ve received Jesus as Lord of our lives, the anointing of God is surely upon us. We’re marked out in the spiritual realm, and known to belong to Him. He then waits for us to walk on in our lives, under this divine anointing, increasingly manifesting the fruit, gifting and ministry of the Holy Spirit, as we allow Him to fill us and change us into the likeness of Christ.

To be an effective member of the Body of Christ and to find the fullness of our destiny, we don’t need more anointing but rather more willingness to walk in total submission to the commands of Jesus and therefore under the anointing that does rest upon us. It’s walking rightfully under authority that will make us effective to walk in authority.

Prayer: Father God, forgive me for failing to actively move forward in the anointing that’s upon my life. I`m sorry if I`ve been waiting for spiritual authority which You have already given. I choose to walk in obedience to Your commands and discover afresh Your presence, Your authority and Your power. Amen.
