Blessings Beyond Measure
by Ron Scurfield
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26). These are the words spoken by God to His people through Moses. “So they will put my name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them” (Numbers 6:27).
The blessings of God are also valid to everyone who professes the name of Christ and receives Him as Lord, “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26).
Therefore, this is a direct word from God for you, and for all who would receive Him. It is not about religious background, or strict obedience to the law. It’s about faith, as we personally receive the truth of the promise, and walk in it. The blessings of the Lord are not of this world. They are way beyond the world’s understanding.
What more can we ask? What more do we need? Nothing the world has to offer can match or come anywhere near the blessings God wants to bestow upon His people. The question is, what do we do with them? How do we live in them? How can we share them with others? Is this not what the world so desperately needs today; perhaps now even more than ever before?
God’s promises still stand. They’re unbreakable. They are eternal. But we must personally receive them. The blessings and protection of the Lord must be recognised as we walk in His fullness. We must turn away from all worldly temptations and fix our eyes upon Christ’s presence at all times.
Circumstances make no difference to the truth of the promise. No matter what we are called to go through, He is our guide, our protector, and our encouragement. His Light shines upon every aspect of our life and His mercy endures for ever. Know this on the inside, whatever takes place on the outside. We’re wrapped in a cocoon of grace, the undeserved favour of God.
His love is our constant covering as we walk under His protection, and the peace of God, which is beyond all our understanding constantly fills our mind with the truth of Christ. The joy of the Lord is our strength, and our faith spurs us on in the face of the impossible. Without faith it is impossible to please God, and faith is knowing the truth and walking in it. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth” (John 14:6).
God’s real blessing is in a transformed life and a renewed relationship with Him, not merely by external rewards but a deep, inner peace which is the foundation on which we can build the character of Jesus.
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God” (Revelation 21:3).
