Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Before the weekend I was completely unable to accept a part of the Lordship prayer where we acknowledge the Lord's control over "the manner and timing of my death". I needed or wanted an "out", to be able to control this for myself..... Read More...

Trusting our Father

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5, NIV

Our one-year-old granddaughter was staying with us a short time ago and I watched her having a great game with her father in our kitchen. She was on one of the worktops and as he held his arms out to her she would launch herself off to be caught by him in mid-air. It looked fairly risky and dangerous to me, but there was never the slightest doubt in her mind that her dad would catch her, because she knew him, she loved him and she trusted him implicitly. She was secure in the knowledge that he loved her and that he would let no harm come to her. The result was that as she threw herself into his arms they had a wonderful time of laughter, fun and intimacy together.

Our Father God wants us to trust Him in a similar way, but many of us miss out on the joy we could have in relationship with Him because we are not prepared to let go and trust Him completely.

In these days of financial insecurity, we need to be able to trust God as the One who will never let us down. We need to trust Him with every aspect of our lives. Is there a particular area where you find it difficult to trust God completely – finance, provision, relationships, family, future direction, home, job? The Bible tells us ‘Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you’ (1 Peter 5:7). The only way to be free from anxiety is to let go completely and to trust in the Lord with all our hearts in every situation, not holding anything back from Him. We will then find that He is utterly faithful and dependable, and we will know His peace which passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You are my Father and that You are utterly faithful. Forgive me for holding back from You and not trusting You completely with every aspect of my life. Help me to do this in future, without holding anything back. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
