Living Your Life with Jesus as the Centre

« Previous DayTo live with Jesus as the centre means that your whole life has been surrendered to Him. You are no longer free to do as you please. You are controlled by the Holy Spirit and that is the safest place to be. ‘A life controlled by the Holy Spirit is life and peace’ (Romans 8:6). Of course, we must make the choice. Jesus is Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all.
Those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit sincerely want to live for the Lord Jesus. Life has changed. Your life can only be controlled by the Holy Spirit if you surrender it wholly and completely to Him. There are no half measures or compromises to true love. Whoever is the centre of our lives is the one we love most. Jesus said, “If you love me you will obey what I command” (John 14:15).
He was well aware of human nature that is prone to sin, so He promised to leave the Holy Spirit as a gift to those who belong to Him. For each one of us, the evidence that we truly love Jesus is that we desperately desire to be like Jesus.
It’s quite a relief when you realise that you are unable to change yourself and begin to hate sin. That is the sinful attitudes and reactions which have been with us for as long as we can remember and any secret sins. They need to be crucified at the cross so that we can be forgiven and free.
Living your life with Jesus as the centre means that you have made a life-changing decision to be on a journey, safe and secure, knowing that when the journey ends you will meet Jesus; not because of any good works you have done, or any kind words you have spoken, but simply because you have bent your knee at the cross and asked God to forgive your sins, pleading the blood of Jesus for your forgiveness.
Living life with Jesus as the centre is not a guarantee of freedom from trouble, but it is an assurance that He will never leave us nor forsake us. The Holy Spirit will enable you to be His witness in this sad world that desperately needs a Saviour. We were not made to be loners. We have been adopted by grace into the family of God to worship and serve Him.
