Unique

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10, KJV

I recently started making bead bracelets, and God has been speaking to me through it. I knew nothing about beadwork, but learned by experimenting with different designs and techniques. I found out every bracelet is different and unique.

As I was making one of the bracelets, I had an expectation of what I wanted it to look like. I spent a lot of time trying to make it the way I’d pictured it in my imagination, but it ended up slightly different. I was a little disappointed at first, but, as I looked at it, after a while I realised it was beautiful. In fact, it was better than what the one I’d tried to create in my imagination.

I knew that the Lord was speaking to me. Everything God made is unique and perfect, and just the way He designed it. The Bible says we’re the work of His hands, or His masterpiece. In the same way that I chose the bead colour, design and thread to use, I was reminded that God has individually picked and chosen us, and, as He works in our lives, we’re being transformed, to accomplish His work. What a privilege and honour that our Heavenly Father chooses us, and shapes us to become more like Him through His Holy Spirit!

He sees each one of us as unique, and has a lot of thoughts about us. In Psalm 139:17-18 it says that His thoughts about us are so many they would outnumber the grains of the sand. What an amazing truth! With there being so much expectation from so many different sources in our lives it’s important to understand that God loves you for who you are. You’re His Masterpiece.

David puts it this way in Psalm 62:5 ‘My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him’. Our hope and expectations shouldn’t come from the world, or the views of others, but from God, and His view of us. We can be so hard towards ourselves and disappointed in how we are, but God looks at us through His love, and He sees us as unique.

Let your Spirit feed on His truth, and not on the lies of the enemy.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for making me, me. I’m grateful for the way You made me. I give myself to You afresh, and trust that You care for me. Help me to see through Your eyes and not by the world’s view - not just seeing myself, but others around me through Your eyes. Thanks again for making me, me. Amen.
