Time For Transformation
by Liz Griffin
"Which side do you chew your food on?" the new dentist asked me when I went for a routine check up. "Well I`m not really aware of which side I chew my food on" I replied. He then told me I was only chewing on one side of my mouth and I needed to change that habit. I was causing my gums to be unhealthy.
It came as quite a surprise to learn this, as my gum problem has been going on for 50 years. It all started when I was at school and knocked my front tooth out. I must have been unconsciously trying to protect that side of my mouth from further damage or pain all these years.
It`s not been easy to change this habit, but since it was identified for me I`ve made an effort to leave behind my old way and try the new way. The result has been transformation.
It`s like that with our spiritual growth in the Lord. We need a revelation of what`s wrong with our old ways of thinking. It`s best to know the truth about ourselves. The Lord Jesus wants to reveal hidden things so that we can make choices to change our habits of a life time that are harmful to us and others. We can then decide we want to be `changed within by a new way of thinking`. It`s going to mean a transformation in our lives. We will be doing God`s will for our lives. We will be pleasing Him in the things we do.
`Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to Him and what is perfect` (Romans 12:2).
Prayer: Dear Lord, please show me what I should be changing within my life. Help me to understand Your ways and give up any of mine which aren`t right. Amen.
