Roll your works upon the Lord

Roll your works upon the Lord (commit and trust them wholly to him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and) so shall your plans be established and succeed.
Proverbs 16:3, AMP

I had the privilege to go on an Ellel Ministries mission in Northern India last year. We visited a church high up on the beautiful foothills of the Himalaya mountains. This scripture reminded me of a few Nepalese Sherpas carrying their huge, heavy loads on their backs, slowly making their way down the well-trodden footpaths of the steep mountain slopes. The pack on their backs was tied with a broad linen band around their foreheads. Whenever they came to a village they had to bend down to off load their heavy packs after a long day’s walk.

You may fill your time with activity which appears to be very admirable yet it might not be what God has asked you to do. The load you are carrying can either be a burden and a strain or can be a joy and an adventure with God. Someone once said: ‘Not everything that’s good is necessarily godly. A lack of love and affirmation in our childhood may leave an empty void which may result in a feeling of being overlooked. To compensate you may find yourself driven and overloaded. This leaves you empty on the inside, far from God the Father - even to the point where you may see the effect on your body, tiredness, constant headaches or a lack of peace.

Today the Father invites you to take a moment to kneel like the camels in Israel, so as to allow their owners to unload their heavy packs. This enables them to enter through the small space in the city walls of Jerusalem into the place of protection. It takes humility to be real, trust your Father to take off your load, commit ALL that you are doing to him and allow Him to nurture your spirit with His everlasting love. So shall your plans be established and succeed!

Prayer: Thank you Lord that you only want me to carry the loads that you have equipped and prepared for me to carry. If I am carrying things for the worng reason, help me to lay them down, come to you for healing and only take up those things that you give me to do. In Jesus' name, Amen
