Cleansed and Restored for the Master`s Use
by Michael Tang
The great house mentioned in today`s passage is like a church. These two verses, in some ways describe the condition of believers in a church. Just like the great house with different types of articles, the church has different "types" of believers. Some are hot and some cold. Some are mature and some immature. Some are strong and some weak. Some are healed, and some remained wounded. Some are used powerfully, and some are inactive. Many of us don’t recognise or acknowledge our spiritual condition. Some may think, “I haven’t killed, stolen or committed adultery. So, I’m okay”. Some may think, “I’m useless and sinful. How can God use me?”
The Bible, in the Book of Romans 3:23, states that ‘all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.’ Jesus tells us that we may not have done the act, but by the mere thought, or allowing our minds and eyes to dwell on things that displease God, we’ve already committed a sin.
In 2 Timothy 2:21, the word of God says, ‘if a man cleanses himself … he will be an instrument for noble purpose, made holy, useful to the Master …’ This is God’s word of assurance that we can be remodelled for His use. The decision lies very much with each one of us, whether we want to be cleansed, and whether we want to make ourselves available for His Kingdom’s work. It’s very much in our hands. Are we prepared to be cleansed for the Master’s use?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I know that I’m a sinner. I want to serve, but I sometimes feel that I’m unable to do anything. But, Father, I know that You love me and You’re merciful and desire to restore me. Lord, I come to You, acknowledging that I need You to come into my life and heal me of my wounds and cleanse me of my unrighteousness. I ask that You come by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Set me free from all my iniquities and transgressions so I can reconnect with You and receive Your healing touch and power. I thank You for Your word, that we can be made for a noble purpose and useful for Your use. Thank You, Lord, once again for Your love. In Jesus’ name, I ask and pray. Amen.
