As White as Snow
by Vicky Munro
We recently had a good covering of snow, and as I was travelling to church with some friends, we had a conversation on how white the snow was. My friend pointed out some sheep and said, compared to the snow, they were not very white at all. In fact, they looked a pale yellow, their wool was stained from the dirt of the fields.
I took some time to ponder on this and the above scripture came to mind. I thought about sin and how it leaves a stain on us. Sometimes it seems the stains are permanent. There seems no way to wash them off.
But God can remove sin’s stains from our lives, just as He promised He would do for the Israelites. We don’t have to go through life permanently soiled with them. God can remove them. His word assures us that, if we are obedient and willing, Christ will forgive us and remove our toughest stains.
David prayed, ‘Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow’ (Psalm 51:7). Perhaps you are struggling with sin in your life. Perhaps you are unsure if you can be made clean and washed ‘whiter than snow’. Our scripture verse for today says, “Yes, you can. You can be washed clean, and all stains removed from you”.
You might ask, “How?” The answer is to just come to Him today, repent, and ask Him to wash you clean. It is that simple.
Be open to Him and ask Him if there is any sin in your life that you need to confess. You might not be aware of anything right now. But just be open and listen to your loving Heavenly Father. He will show you if there is anything.
As I am writing this, I’m asking God to show me areas in my life that I might need to bring to Him. None of us are perfect and we all mess up. But it’s so marvellous that we have a loving Saviour, who died that we can be set free from the bondage of sin!
I encourage you today to take some time to sit and listen to the Lord. Bring anything to Him that comes to your mind and let Him wash you as white as snow.
