Wholeheartedly Embraced by God
by Sue Cronk
One of the greatest fears I have had to overcome was my fear of abandonment. It plagued my life, prevented me from forming close relationships and interfered with my relationship with God. I had great hope in God, but struggled with trusting Him completely, as unconsciously I feared that He might grow weary of me and then abandon me. It’s not God’s will that any of His children live this way. He wants us to live with the certainty that we are greatly valued and unconditionally loved. He also wants us to experience the security of His faithfulness towards us, for, when we do, all fear of abandonment flees away.
I remember the first time I read this verse in the Amplified bible and how it impacted me. It was like God was stamping His foot with conviction and intensity and saying, “Sue, I will not abandon you. I will not. I will not! I will not!” The forcefulness of His words captivated my attention and left me shaken. He also ministered to me through other scriptures that highlighted His faithfulness and steadfast love.
Over time, my fear and doubts began to melt away, as cemented truth took their place. I wonder where you are on your faith journey right now. Do you find it easy to trust God in this area, or do you struggle? If the latter, God wants to meet with you and heal you. Pour your heart out to Him today, as you meditate on today’s scripture. When you know the truth of God’s faithfulness, the truth will set you free to love and be loved as God intended. It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen, because our God is a faithful God. Perhaps you would like to pray this prayer.
Prayer: God, You know the road I have walked and my life experiences. Some of them have dented my confidence. You know my fears, my doubts and my unhealed wounds. I lay them all before You today and ask You to meet with me. As an act of my will, I choose to believe Your promise that You will never leave me or forsake me. Cement that truth in my life, I pray. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
