Seeds of the Kingdom

While He is Near

by Pam Smith

Seek the Lord while you may find him. Call upon him now while he is near. Let men cast off their wicked deeds; let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy upon them, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon!
Isaiah 55:6-7, LB

There is urgency in this scripture. It tells us there may be a time when the Lord can’t be found and when He may not be near. But right now He’s waiting to have mercy on us and to abundantly pardon us.

His Word goes out to all the earth and accomplishes all that He desires. All the time there are windows and doors in the world which are opening and closing. The World Wide Web is increasing in size. The Lord knows exactly where He’s sending His Word and who will respond to it.

You may be young and have all your days before you. While there is still time, apply His wisdom in your choices and He can guide you into the best pathways for your life.

You may be getting older. Find the freedom you long for. Live for him and avoid missing the destiny He has for you.

You may have reached a mature age. Find His peace for your mind and the fulfilment of His purposes in your heart.

Seek Him while He can still be found. Call on Him now, while you still can; while His Words are still reaching you.

So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is today. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted: ‘Today when you hear his voice, don't harden your hearts’ Hebrews 4: 7.

Call on him now, while He is near to you.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank You for your patience with us. Thank You for calling us to You. May we respond today to Your words of Grace, in Jesus’ Name.
