Where can I go from Your Spirit?

« Previous DayIn the Bible, we read in Hebrews 13:5 that God will never leave us nor forsake us.
I used to struggle with this verse because I had an image in my mind of a person who was with me all the time. I couldn’t see or understand any more than that. But then one day God gave me a powerful life changing experience of His omnipresence. God revealed Himself to me very clearly and then I knew that He was everywhere, all the time. Our main scripture above is so true. It’s actually real. Wherever I go, God will always be there.
But there’s more to it than that. This experience was just the beginning for me. I realized that when I became a Christian I was born into God’s kingdom. I was brought into Jesus Christ and His love for me. Jesus prayed that we will be in Him just as He is in God (John 15:4 and John 17:21). So when God says He will never leave me nor forsake me, it’s because I’m with Him, always in His presence. This covenant relationship can’t be broken - never. It’s impossible. He can never leave me. He’s always with me and I’m always with Him. It’s not something we can imagine in our finite minds.
Colossians 1:17 says ‘He is before all things and in Him all things hold together’. God’s the creator of all things and being everywhere all the time means He’s in all things. He literally fills the earth, the sky and the entire universe. Or, put another way, we are all in Him. Everything about us, everything we have ever known or experienced is in Him. How vast He is, and we will always be with Him! What a safe place to be for all eternity.
Prayer: Thank you Lord that there’s nowhere I can go that’s outside Your presence! Thank you for the encouragement that wherever I am and whatever circumstances I’m in that You are there. Help me, Lord, always to walk in Your ways as I trust You more and more. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
