Walking in Vision

Afterward I will pour out my Spirit on everyone: your sons and daughters will proclaim my message; your old people will have dreams, and your young people will see visions.
Joel 2:28, GNB

The Ellel team at Glyndley Manor recently celebrated 20 years of ministry at this centre near Eastbourne, in England. It was a very encouraging weekend with many supporters joining the two days of reflection on God’s faithfulness in the past and also a time of preparing for His plans in the future.

At the start of the weekend, an old video film was shown which was made at a Christian meeting in 1987, and which unexpectedly came into the hands of the Glyndley team some ten years later. The video showed a man describing a remarkable and detailed vision he’d experienced in 1976, revealing a big house where people came to receive the truth about the Kingdom of God and then left, significantly restored by the visit. He described in the video how it was not until ten years later that he found Glyndley Manor and immediately realised that this was the house which he’d seen in vision.

Together with a number of other Christians he purchased the property in October 1986. Remarkably, this was the very same year and month that Ellel Ministries moved into Ellel Grange near Lancaster. However, at that time only God knew the significance of these two independent events which occurred, one in the north and one in the south of England.

When God reveals vision, He’s giving us an extraordinary glimpse of His unrestricted view of our world. We then have an opportunity to receive this revelation, share it with others and work out our part in the process of fulfilling God’s plans and purposes. Thankfully the man who bought Glyndley Manor was obedient to what God had shown him, but it was not until a further five years had passed that he met Peter Horrobin and recognised that the work of Ellel Ministries exactly fitted the picture he’d seen so many years before.

Glyndley Manor was subsequently sold to Ellel Ministries and the vision moved further into its fulfillment. The story told on the video film reminded us all once again that the work at Glyndley Manor, whether the team might be having a good day or a difficult day, is not an idea of man, but actually a promise of God.

Only God sees the full and timeless picture of our lives, but He loves to encourage and motivate us with a glimpse from His viewpoint. Vision, however it’s given, depends on our obedience if it is to reach its intended fulfillment.

Prayer: Father, we thank You that the Holy Spirit is giving vision to men and women in the Body of Christ today. Give us the courage to be obedient and the wisdom to respond in the way You direct us. Amen.
