Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11
Testimony
Before the weekend I was completely unable to accept a part of the Lordship prayer where we acknowledge the Lord's control over "the manner and timing of my death". I needed or wanted an "out", to be able to control this for myself..... Read More...

The Faithfulness of God in Nature

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.
Psalm 19:1-4, NIV

I was walking on the beach the other day with a friend. We were both at different stages of our healing journey but both of us were deep in thought and working through what God had been touching in our lives recently. All the time that we were walking in silence together, the waves were lapping quietly on to the sand at our feet.  The sun was shining down from the sky, reflecting on the water and creating sparkling areas that looked so beautiful. There were sea birds floating on the water and some flying overhead, calling as they did so. There were boats out at sea waiting to get into a nearby harbour. As we pondered our life circumstances, I asked out loud where we thought God was in all of it.

Each of us had a slightly different response. What was clear, though, was that we did agree that God was there. He met us each uniquely, in a way that spoke to whom He had made us to be. For me, it was in the constancy of the rhythms of life; the waves continually lapping on the sand and the tide moving out, knowing that it will change and come back in again; the sun in the sky, knowing that it will set and rise again the next day. Regardless of my ponderings and struggles, I knew God to be faithful. He does what He has promised, even if I don’t see the final outworking of it yet. The things of creation cry out the glory of God and remind us of who He is.

This has brought me great comfort for many, many years, but especially this year as I have been finding it difficult to concentrate and dig into the deeper things of God and His Word. As I look around me, I can see and hear the faithfulness of God in all that He has created.

Perhaps you are also struggling to concentrate or are questioning your life circumstances in one way or another. Let us look to the sky and the things of nature to remind us of our Creator and His love for us.
