Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
1 Thessalonians 5:15, NIV

I was thinking about all the different people we have known over the years. Some people have been an important part of my life for a season, then they move on and that season is over. I imagine my life like a stretch of beach on the seaside. People are like the seashells, which are washed in and out by the waves, ever changing. Some remain for a long time while others are in and out again in a moment.

None of us can control who comes in and out of our lives. Our days are in God`s hands. What we can do is ask God to use us as He wants, to touch each life that He brings our way. We don`t know what impact we may have on another person, but we can trust God to lead us and use us. The impact we make on each other can have a lasting effect, whether positive or negative, so, as our verse today says, let`s strive to do good to everyone. Not that we strive in our own strength, but with God`s help, let`s make a positive impact on everyone who comes into our life, whether for a minute or a lifetime. Each one is valuable to God and deserves the best from us.

My youngest daughter recently told me, "When someone seems to be grumpy about doing their job, I try to make eye contact and give them a big smile." It`s amazing how that act can brighten a person`s day. Rather than getting grumpy ourselves because of that person`s attitude, we can do what`s good for that person.

Are you up for the challenge? Let`s pray that God would help us!

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the variety of people You`ve brought into my life. Thank You for all those who`ve done good to me with their words and actions and had a positive effect on my life. I forgive those who`ve had a negative effect on my life, and I repent about the people I`ve hurt in the past. I ask You, Lord, to help me to do good to everyone You bring into my life. Amen.
