God has revealed many times in my life where past hurts have caused behaviours and patterns, which have been detrimental to me. He has put on my heart to draw close to Him and bring others to Him also. .... Read More...

Life is Precious

by Lynda Scott

“Lord, remind me how brief my time of earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered - how fleeting my life is. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath.”
Psalm 39:4-5, NLT

Life can move so quickly, and, before we know it, we can be older than we thought, or maybe even feel. I’ve found, over my life, that times of ill health can really bring life back into focus. It challenges you about what’s important in life.

I remember, after I’d fallen off the cliff, twenty-two years ago, I went through a very difficult time. I was subsequently healed by Jesus a couple of years later. However, in that rehabilitation time, I remember attending hydrotherapy sessions with the physiotherapist, for my injured back. I’d been the swimming champion at my school. But now I felt so humiliated and useless when all I could do was float in a rubber tube, but that was all I could do. After my healing I started to swim again. I wanted to make the most of every opportunity that I had. My life took on a whole new focus and sense of appreciation for all the things I had, and could now do. I was so thrilled to be able to do a simple thing such as swimming. Even now, as I go to the pool to swim for my exercise, I still thank God that I can swim, because I remember when I couldn’t.

The time we have to live on earth, as David reminds us in today’s psalm, is very short. When we’re young, and often healthy, we think that life will go on and on. But truly, before we know it, our time on earth can be up. I want to encourage you today, whether you’re young or old, to consider how precious your life is. It’s a gift from God. There are things He wants you to do, even up to the time when He calls you home. Consider afresh today how you might make the most of your life. Are you following Jesus? What can you do for yourself and your family to make every day precious? How can you give your all to serve Jesus? Embrace every day you’ve been given with joy, and let your life be a reflection of Jesus and His love.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for my life. I’m thinking again today how precious, yet how brief it is. Please help me, Lord, to make the most of every day, and to appreciate all I have, and can do. Give me fresh ideas of how I can embrace each day, and share Your joy with those around me. In Your name, Amen.
