I Found My Joy
by Jim Person
Sometimes I find myself in a place where my busyness has kept me from my Bible reading plan. We should never become too busy and neglect this valuable and much needed time for our spiritual journey.
It is good to frequently weigh ourselves on the scale of God’s word. It might show us that we are wanting, and in need of healing. What’s keeping you from getting into the word?
If this is your current situation, you will find it a great exercise to read some psalms of David, and, as you meditate upon each verse, to ask yourself, “Can I say this? Have I felt as David felt? Has my heart ever been broken on account of sin as his was when he wrote his psalms? Has my soul been full of true confidence in the hour of difficulty as his was when he sang of God’s mercies in the cave of Adullam, or in the strongholds of Engedi?”
Being in the place of humility brings us to that attitude the tax collector had, beating our chest and crying out for the mercies of our heavenly Father who is interested whole-heartedly in our plight, and reaching towards us with His solution in hand, able and willing to teach us, so we might teach others to turn from their errors and be restored.
Let’s bring glory to God and find that joy.
