Here I Am to Worship

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
Psalm 95:6, NLT

During a time of worship on a course at Ellel, we sang a well-known song. The song was called, ‘Here I am to worship’, written by Tim Hughes. As we were singing, certain lines really struck me. I’d like to share them with you.

The first line that really struck me was ‘Here I am to worship’. I asked myself, “Am I really here to worship, or am I just singing because I like the song?” The next line was ‘Here I am to bow down’. Again, there was the question of whether I was really bowing down to Jesus. I took a few moments to search my heart.

Those were two very important questions. But there was more to come. ‘Here I am to say that You’re my God’. But am I really saying “You’re my God” from my heart? Are You my God in every area of my life? Do I really mean it?

As we moved on to the next few lines in the chorus, I asked myself, “Do I believe that He is altogether lovely? Altogether worthy?”  I pondered over that one.

Yes, God is altogether wonderful. Wow! He really is. I started looking back and seeing just how wonderful He has been to me.

I encourage you to ask yourself the same questions, and allow God to show you, and speak to you. Perhaps you might like to listen to this song for yourself, or look up scriptures about worship, and how they speak of making Jesus Lord of every area of our lives, and bowing down, and surrendering to Him.
