Seeds of the Kingdom

Glorious Liberty

« Previous Day | Next Day »

For all creation is waiting patiently and hopefully for that future day when God will resurrect his children. On that day thorns and thistles, sin, death and decay – the things that overcame the world against its will at God’s command – will disappear, and the world around us will share in the glorious freedom from sin which God’s children enjoy.
Romans 8:19-21, LB

Sometimes it’s hard to live in a spiritual Kingdom at the same time as being a human being! Jesus was able to do this for He knew who He was in this world. He was ‘very God’ and ‘very Man’. He prayed for us for to be ‘in’ the world but not ‘of’ the world, but that we would be kept safe and set apart for himself (John 17).

The Lord is touched with the feelings of our weaknesses and has given us His Holy Spirit to bring us through the barriers of our humanity into the Kingdom of Heaven. It’s like an astronaut breaking out of earth’s gravity into the star-filled universe.

When we’re born again of the Spirit, Scripture says that we’ve been ‘translated from the Kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of his dear Son’ (Colossians 1:13). When we have that relationship with our Maker it doesn’t make us any less human but gives abundant fulfilment of life, not only in the spirit, but in every way as a human being. This was God’s plan and order for our lives. There’s a wonderful freedom being in Christ Jesus.

A pastor wanted to occupy his little son, while he was busy in his office. He found a newspaper with a map of the world on it, and quickly cut it into pieces and gave them to his son to re-assemble, thinking that would occupy him for some time. Ten minutes later, he returned with it complete. His father asked how he’d finished it so quickly. The little boy said that he’d found a picture of a man on the back, and when he put the man back together, the world came together.

When God puts us back together, spirit, soul and body, we become the people that He created us to be.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the wonderful freedom that You’ve given us. May we choose to love and serve You in the place where we are to day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
