Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Get To Know The Author

by Lynda Scott

“All Scripture is God-breathed...”
2 Timothy 3:16a, NIV

The first thing I do each day when I receive Seeds of the Kingdom is scroll to the bottom of the page to see who the author of the Seed is. Who is writing each Seed matters to me. Some of the people I know personally, while some I do not know. Yet by reading their writing I am coming to know them. Many of you will have built up a picture in your mind from reading my writings of what I am like, what I believe about God and what matters to me. The wonderful element of Seeds of the Kingdom is there are so many authors from so many different countries. Each comes with their own life and learning experience of God. Some authors you will find a spiritual affinity with, finding that what they write you really relate to. Each author of Seeds of the Kingdom seeks to be inspired by the Holy Spirit of God to write a word that imparts His truth in a way that will encourage you in your walk with the Lord.

Our scripture today tells us that the Bible is breathed by God. The author of the Bible is God himself! Over many years God inspired people to write the 66 books of the Bible. There were many different authors from different backgrounds. But what you will see, the more you read the Bible, is that the Word of God has a unity that could only come through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is a little like the unity that occurs through Seeds of the Kingdom.

Each time you pick up your Bible to read it you are getting to know the author. But it is more than knowing about Him. You can actually come to know Him. Religion is knowing about Jesus. True Christianity is having a relationship with Jesus. The very first prayer I remember praying when I was a girl of twelve was ‘Jesus I want you to be my special friend.’ That is a prayer of relationship and that was a turning point in my life.

Maybe today you have realised that you know a lot about Jesus, but that you do not really know Him. Jesus wants to come into your world and show you how very much He loves you. He wants to walk the road with you, through all the bumps and curves, and see you safely through. Jesus is the author that can speak His truth specifically into your situation and unlock miracles in your future. If you want to really know Jesus, then today is the day to ask Him.

If you do already know Him, I encourage you today to continue to seek Him and ask Him to bring a fresh revelation of who He is. Today He wants you to know how much He delights in you and how glad He is to walk with you.

Prayer: Father God, I acknowledge that through the Holy Spirit You inspired all of the writings of the Bible. Forgive me where I have only wanted to know about You and not know You. Today I want to ask You to be my special friend. Please come into my life and show me who You really are. Would You bring Your Word alive to me. I want to know You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
