I have received so much healing in the three courses that I have been to. Gilbula, just outside of Sydney, is such a special place where it's easy to feel like you have "come home" and the teaching, fellowship and the amazing meals recharge your spirit. I.... Read More...

Seeds of the Kingdom

Constantly washed

by Pam Smith

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:22, NKJ

My little grandchildren need to have constant wipes and washes. They always seem to get covered in something messy. But as they get older they appear to be cleaner but need to be reminded to wash their hands.

Jesus said ‘Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect’ (Matthew 5:48). He would not have said this if it were not possible. The only way to be perfect is when we are under the covering of Jesus. Paul speaks of being ‘perfect in Christ Jesus’ (Colossians 1:28).

I too, need constant washing. Without thinking I seem to get stuff on me. Just as we need clean clothes and showers – so we need them spiritually. When I take a shower and the water is cascading over me, I often ask the Lord to wash me on the inside that I may be as clean as I am on the outside.

I have a screensaver on my computer with the continual sound of the waves upon the shore - wave after wave washing the beach constantly. This reminds me of the continual fountain that was opened at Calvary for those who would be cleansed.

And this is one of the promises for all who turn to God through Christ the Messiah. ‘Then it will be as though I had sprinkled clean water on you, for you will be clean – your filthiness will be washed away, your idol worship gone. And I will give you a new heart – I will give you new and right desires - and put a new spirit within you and give you new hearts of love’ (Ezekiel 36:2-26).

Don’t let’s wait until we have a long list of things to deal with, let’s keep a short account with God. Let’s ask Him to wash us when we get dirty, like the children who need a constant ‘clean up’. His Word makes us clean. Let’s wash ourselves in His words all the time (Ephesians 5:26).

There is a fountain filled with Blood –
Drawn from Emmanuel’s veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.

William Cowper

Prayer: Lord, Thank You for the provision You have made for us to walk with You with clean hands and pure hearts. We give You praise and glory for Your great love. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
