“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last.”
John 15:16 NIV

Some time ago, when the leadership at Ellel Pierrepont and I were facing some particular challenges, I was driving my car and I came up behind a large white van. As well as the name of the company on the back of the van, there was a coat-of-arms, which reminded me of the royal coat-of-arms that some companies are allowed to display when they have been acknowledged by the Queen as trusted suppliers of quality goods or services. They are issued with a royal warrant which states that they are “By appointment to Her Majesty the Queen”.

As I was pondering this, I felt the Lord remind me that I was “By appointment” to Him – the King of Kings! As He spoke this deeply into my spirit, it brought affirmation to me personally, as well as confirmation of the calling that He had, not only for me but also for the Pierrepont leadership team. It was just the encouragement I needed during a difficult time!

What about you? Do you need reminding today that God has chosen you and that He has a unique gifting and calling that is for you alone? You are “By appointment to the King of Kings”!

Many people in these days are lacking a sense of self-worth and value, are fearful of the future and are lacking purpose in their lives. Jesus states in today’s verse that He has chosen us and has appointed us to go and bear fruit. This knowledge should give us assurance that we are loved and accepted by Him, and it should provide a focus for our lives that will enable us to weather all the storms and difficult situations that we face. God has chosen us and trusts us to bear fruit for Him. This means that He has a plan and a purpose for each one of us. We have the royal stamp of approval which says that we are “By appointment” to Him! Let’s live our lives in the certainty of that truth. What a privilege!

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You have chosen me and that You have a plan and a purpose for my life. Thank you that I am “By appointment” to You! Help me to live in the knowledge of that truth and to bear much fruit for You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
