Seeds of the Kingdom

A Refuge of Lies

I will make justice a measuring line and righteousness a plumb line. Hail will sweep away your refuge of lies, and floodwaters will wash away your hiding place.
Isaiah 28:17, NIV

May I offer a serious comment on the spiritual condition of the United Kingdom. While praying with friends recently, particularly with regard to what is happening in our nation, I believe that the Lord pointed me to today’s verse.

There is much within our country that warrants the judgement of God. Over recent decades, human laws have been established that clearly conflict with His laws and this trend is continuing. The Word of God tells us that, in due time, God’s mercy triumphs over judgement and it’s important to stand on this truth. However, there is a divine process that requires the establishment and acknowledgement of truth before His mercy can flow.

I believe that we are in a particular season when God is allowing, or perhaps ordaining, the revealing of countless deceptions that have been hidden for many years within significant institutions of our nation, and this must include the Church. Sadly, some leaders within these institutions, trusting in their places of privilege, have taken refuge over those years under a covering of lies.

There is, of course, a challenge to us all in this, not just to pray light into these places of darkness, but also to permit that same light to search our own lives. As truth is revealed, on both a national and personal level, the opportunity comes for God’s precious mercy to bring true restoration.
