Say 'No' to Evolution

by Jill Southern

Through him all things were made, without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1:3, NIV

God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, created the world and everything in it. There are certain fundamental beliefs of the Christian faith which are non-negotiable, and this is one of them. No one created God, God always was, always is and always will be.

The first few chapters of Genesis outline for us how God created the world and in which order he did it. In Genesis 1:26 we read, ‘Then God said, “Let us make man in our image”’. Who is the ‘us’? John 1:1-3 gives us the answer ‘In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God’.

So, Jesus was the word who was with God in the beginning. When God says, “Let us make man” the ‘us’ is God, the Father, and Jesus Christ, the Son. But we are also told ‘the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters’ (Genesis 1:2). We are made in God’s image and His Spirit, breathed into us, makes each one of us unique.

How sad then that Darwin’s theory of evolution has tried to replace the truth of the word of God and is taught as fact, not theory, in our educational establishments. This is the enemy’s plan to undermine belief in Almighty God as creator of the universe.

I don’t believe that a biblical Christian can believe in evolution. Why? If we don’t believe in the first Adam and his sin affecting the whole of the human race, then, of course, we don’t need the second Adam (Jesus Christ) to die on the cross, to be the rescue plan for all mankind. 1 Corinthians 15:45 says, ‘So it is written the first man Adam became a living being, the last Adam; a life-giving spirit’.

Therefore, we should say “No” to the theory of evolution and “Yes” to the eternal truth of the word of God. We should rejoice that God has made us in His image to have personal relationship Him, the living God, which is only made possible through the substitutionary death of Jesus on the cross for each one of us. We’re are called to be sons of God, and to belong to His family forever.

Prayer: Father, we’re so thankful that we’re chosen, before the foundation of the world was laid, to belong to You. We’re thankful that You sent Your only begotten son to die on the cross to deal with our sin, which separated us from You. Help us to believe in the infallibility of the word of God, that You’re the creator of the world and everything in it. Help us to never compromise with the world, the flesh and the devil, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
