Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Before the weekend I was completely unable to accept a part of the Lordship prayer where we acknowledge the Lord's control over "the manner and timing of my death". I needed or wanted an "out", to be able to control this for myself..... Read More...

Integrity and Purity

by David Cross

Because of this the LORD Almighty says, I will refine my people like metal and put them to the test. My people have done evil … what else can I do with them?”
Jeremiah 9:7, GNB

I woke up one morning recently with the words integrity and purity in my head. I felt the Lord pressing me to understand the essential need for these two particular qualities to be established in our hearts, if we are to walk with His strength and His peace into our God-given destiny.

I reflected on the fact that the cause of failure in machines made of steel, for example, is very often found to be tiny cracks or impurities in the microscopic structure of the metal. These cause a build up of harmful stresses. In applying this spiritually I thought about how God can see into the intricate heart of man and reveal the fractures and enemy intrusion coming through the wounds and sins of life. His desire to repair these weak spots is for our well-being as well as for the fulfilment of His plans and purposes in our lives.

Integrity really means wholeness; no division, no separation, no cracks! Purity describes what is undefiled, with nothing present which isn’t designed to be there. Integrity and purity not only give strength and endurance to metals. God shows us in His Word that they are essential qualities for the inner lives of His children. He has established the perfect way for repairing any cracks and impurities. Jesus our Healer came to bind up the broken-hearted and bring liberty from enemy intrusion. Our part is to open our hearts to Him and respond to whatever He reveals to us about the wounds and sins which are causing distress.

Prayer: Father God, please take a close look at my heart and show me what needs repair and cleansing. I want to grow in integrity and purity, ready for all that You have prepared for me to be and to do. Amen.
