Convenient Or Not, Just Do It.

« Previous DayHave you ever missed a good opportunity to be blessed or to bless others because there was some kind of action that needed to be taken that was inconvenient at the time?
Perhaps there was a meeting we did not attend because we were too tired, or a course we did not take because it seemed too demanding. Sometimes, we may fail to make important connections for our future. Additionally, we miss out on ideas or solutions to the problems we face for the same reason.
At times, great opportunities come disguised as inconveniences. Or they come wrapped in a paper that we do not like. We need to understand that God’s ways are not our ways, and He is not deterred by inconvenience.
I remember the story of a pastor who kept thinking about buying a fried chicken franchise. He felt it might have been the Lord bringing that thought. However, he reasoned that he did not want to get involved in securing the funds and everything else needed for the purchase. The whole process would certainly be hard work.
As a result, the pastor did not act on the Lord's prompting. Before he realised it, the shop had been demolished, and an upscale block of flats was being constructed in its place. The pastor understood that he had missed a significant opportunity to make a considerable sum of money that could have benefited the church.
I also heard another story about a pastor who was given the chance to purchase a piece of land together with a friend for a relatively small sum. The friend went ahead with the purchase on his own. The pastor, however, decided not to buy the property because he viewed it as a barren piece of land in the middle of nowhere.
Sometime later, he was informed by his friend that he had sold the land to a company planning to build a motorway through it. Once again, a significant financial opportunity was missed.
It is good to always pray about any opportunity that presents itself before us. We need to learn to view things and situations through His wisdom and knowledge, rather than through our own human logic or reasoning. The Word tells us that: The man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength… will not see when good comes (Jeremiah 17: 5b & 6b).
Oral Roberts, a renowned evangelist, once said that miracles come to us every day. It is our choice whether to let them pass us by or to receive them with open arms.
I encourage you to cultivate a sense of awareness and remain vigilant for the goodness that comes near. When those moments of grace and opportunity present themselves, grasp them tightly.
