Do you feel as if you’re in the midst of a raging storm today? You’re powerless to do anything about the circumstances that surround you. In verse 4 of Psalm 57, King David said ‘I am surrounded by enemies, who are like man-eating lions. Their teeth are like spears and arrows; their tongues are like sharp swords.’
What kind of storms arise in your life? Did someone say something about you that was completely untrue and before you knew what was happening others were accusing you of all sorts of things. You couldn’t straighten out the facts, try as you might. It’s painful to feel the rejection and disapproval from others when you haven’t done anything wrong. Particularly when you thought they were your friends.
Maybe you tried to help someone with a problem at work. Then all of a sudden you found yourself in trouble for doing the wrong thing. It was politically incorrect. Yet your heart motivation was to do something good.
The Lord is the One who understands it all. He’s a God of truth. He’s just and fair and must punish wrongdoing, evil and sin. But He doesn’t punish us for mistakes and accidents. Our heavenly Father gives us loving acceptance and we will never hear condemnation from His lips. His approval of our thoughts and actions is more important than of anyone else. He is a place of refuge.
But I will sing of about your strength; every morning I will sing aloud of your constant love. You have been a refuge for me, a shelter in my time of trouble (Psalm 59:16). The Lord is a strong tower where we can run to and be safe. He always has time for us, welcomes us into His presence and He’s available 24/7.
Prayer: Thank you Lord that you never tire of being our security and protection and that in times of storm and testing you are always there to to be my comfort and my encouragement. In Jesus' name, Amen.
